The Volkswagen ID.4 is expected to drive growth for Volkswagen’s electric vehicle lineup. Volkswagen plans to deliver more than 100,000 all-electric ID.4 crossovers this year, of which two-thirds are destined for Europe and the rest for the United States and China.

The ID.4 electric crossover marks the start of the global rollout of the MEB electric mass market platform. This is the second car built on the group’s platform after the ID.3 hatchback, which went on sale in Europe in September.

It is noted that sales of the ID.4 will begin in Europe and China in March, and shipments will begin mid-year.

“ID.4 will bring even more people into e-mobility and thus give additional impetus to our electric offensive. We hope to deliver over 100,000 ID.4s to customers this year alone, ”said Klaus Zellmer, VW Brand Sales Manager.

VW has already received 17,000 ID.4 pre-orders to date, Zellmer said. In Germany, prices for the model start at 38,450 euros (about 3.44 million rubles). The crossover is offered with a 52 kWh battery with a range of up to 348 km, while a 77 kWh battery will provide a 522 km range.

The ID.4 will initially be exported to the US from VW’s Zwickau, Germany plant, where ID3 is also produced. However, later they intend to produce it at the Chattanooga plant from 2022. In China, the ID.4 can be ordered in two versions: ID.4 Crozz and ID.4 X, both built at factories in Anting and Foshan. Note that in Russia the model is not worth waiting for, although one of the brands of the brand – Audi – intends to electrify the Russian market by announcing the release of three more models.

VW wants to achieve annual sales of around 500,000 ID.4 vehicles by 2025, a third of the expected production of the ID family, VW brand CEO Ralph Brandstätter told reporters when the crossover was unveiled in September.
