A Chinese electric vehicle startup has begun taking orders for its P5 junior sedan. The car turned out to be more than 30 percent cheaper than the initial version of the Tesla Model 3 locally assembled.

First of all, it should be noted a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen, which is based on the Xmart OS 3.0 operating system of its own design based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch dashboard screen.

XPeng P5 is equipped with two lidars already in the database, more expensive versions already have 4 such devices. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with an additional five cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 13 high-resolution cameras. All this is necessary for the competent operation of the XPILOT 3.5 autonomous driving system. Note that the P7 has only XPILOT 3.0, that is, the new sedan has got a technological innovation.

The P5 will receive a single 211 horsepower (310 Nm) electric motor. The batteries are presented in three capacities: 55.9 kWh, 66.2 kWh and 71.4 kWh, which provide a power reserve of 460, 550 and 600 km according to the NEDC method, respectively.

Prices for the new product will start at 160 thousand yuan and end at 230 thousand. The dealership of the brand especially hopes that the model will be able to compete with the Model 3 for the wallets of the middle-income Chinese.
