Worldwide sales of the legendary Porsche 911 increase in the first half of the yearJuly 18, 2020
The first six months of 2020 turned out to be one of the most difficult for the automotive industry in its entire history. However, there are brands and individual models whose sales have even grown in the midst of the pandemic.
The press service of the German premium automaker Porsche has shared data on new car sales worldwide for the first 6 months of 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the automotive industry has suffered very seriously – by the end of the year, the global auto market may fall by about 30%. Between the beginning of January and the end of June, Porsche dealers worldwide were able to sell 116,964 new vehicles.
It is noteworthy that there was one model, whose sales even increased during the reporting period. Such a car was the legendary Porsche 911, which was bought 16,919 times in the first half of the year. This result is 2% higher than last year’s for the same period. The best-selling car of the brand was the Cayenne crossover with 39,245 units sold.
The popular Macan is in second place. During the first six months, 34,430 people stopped their choice on this car – this model is the most progressive among all the cars of the brand.
We also note the new Porsche Taycan – after entering the market, such a car was bought by 4,480 people.
If we talk about the geography of sales, then China has become the absolute leader – the car fleet of this country has been replenished with 32 thousand new Porsche cars. The second place is taken by the USA with more than 24 thousand copies.
