Wolf: Raikkonen’s departure from Ferrari will changeDecember 23, 2018
The head of the Mercedes F1 Toto Wolf expressed his opinion about the departure from the team of the famous Finnish driver and how this may affect Formula 1.
After five seasons at Ferrari, in which he won two poles and a stage in the United States this year, Kimi Raikkonen leaves the team and goes to Sauber. Wolf meanwhile is confident that the contract with not the strongest team of the championship will affect Formula 1 in a negative way.
“I think that with the departure of Kimi from Ferrari to F1, a lot will change. Now he will not have a car that can win. But he is a significant person. Nowadays, he remains true to himself and his values, and fans love him for it. The fact that Kimi is no longer in Ferrari is a big blow for all of us. ”
However, while Toto Wolf supported the decision of the Finn to move to another team, and not to leave motor racing at all. “We are very worried about what Raikkonen will do now without a fast car, but if he is going to get more pleasure from piloting, then this is his right.”
At the farewell, by the way, Raikkoneni and Vettel exchanged helmets, as the Finnish driver wrote in his Instagram: “It was a pleasure to work with you, mate!”. Next season, Sebastian’s partner will be the young and ambitious Charles Leclaire.
Meanwhile, the City of London and the leadership of F-1 is seriously considering the option of holding a British Grand Prix in the capital.
