Will the next Chevrolet Camaro get a mid-engined engine?March 12, 2020
An independent artist presented his vision of what the legendary mid-engined Chevrolet Camaro might look like. So far, nothing is known about Chevrolet’s plans to create this version of the model.
The American sports coupe Chevrolet Corvette got an average engine layout, so why wouldn’t the car manufacturer introduce another of its sports models with the same layout – is it a Camaro? This is exactly the question asked by the artist Carlifestyle through his rendering, which he published on his page on the social network Facebook. I must say that such a performance of the iconic sports car looks very stylish.
It is easy to see some similarities with the Italian Lamborghini Huracan in this design, presumably because it is the car based on the rendering.
Like all cars with an engine in the middle, the front of this virtual car is short and the hips are wide – the only way to place the engine behind the driver. It is worth noting that such proportions are very Camaro.
Sport models Corvette and Camaro have long been and remain important models for the Chevrolet. Camaro sales have plummeted in recent years, and the Corvette most recently got a different engine layout. It is possible that the creation of a mid-engined Camaro will help restore its former popularity.
But for some reason it seems to us that this will not happen. The future of the legendary Camaro is probably already predetermined – it is expected that the car will disappear in the next couple of years, as sales of the current generation coupe are coming to naught.
