Will the new Citroën C1, Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo be electric?October 18, 2018
We are almost 100% sure that the new version of the French baby Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108 will be electric.
The current version of the subcompact urban typewriter Citroën C1 was released in 2014 on the same platform on which the Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo are built. Now these cars are assembled at TPCA (Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile) enterprises.
Foreign journalists asked Citroën CEO Linda Jackson about what to expect from the new versions of city kids. The answer is: “The development of these models continues and they are likely to become completely electric.”
Well, if so, hardly the Japanese brand Toyota will not make its Aygo completely electric. After all, for a new version of the car, you need to develop a new engine, or to upgrade existing ones, but will the automaker’s leadership want to do this? Hardly.
“If we find a common development strategy for our compact, urban cars, we will be able to continue and further develop these projects together,” – said Didier Leroy, President of Toyota Europe. He also noted from separately that at the moment, the relations between the partners are very good.
According to insiders, the electric version of the French city car can get a battery of 20-30 kWh, so that he will be able to travel a distance of 160-200 km.
