Will the 690-horsepower Nissan GT-R overtake the Porsche 911 Turbo S?June 29, 2020
Enthusiasts from the 888M YouTube channel decided to check how fast the iconic Japanese coupe Nissan GT-R is. This time, the 991 generation Porsche 911 Turbo S was chosen as a rival.
We have seen more than once how the Japanese Nissan GT-R supercar came up against faster competitors, whether at competitions in high-speed passage of a track or a race in a straight line. Despite the fact that the current generation of the cult car has already begun to become obsolete – the production of the Nissan GT-R began back in 2007, the Japanese sports coupe is still a force to be reckoned with, even among new sports cars.
This time, the German Porsche 911 Turbo S generation 991 was put in opposition to the Japanese car. Does this mean that a younger rival will be able to defeat the Japanese “grandfather”?
The results of this race can be seen on the video that appeared on the 888MF YouTube channel. It should be noted that these two cars have very similar features – in particular, both are equipped with six-cylinder engines with two turbines. It is worth noting that this is not an ordinary version of the GT-R.
Before you watch the race itself, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the “dry” numbers. According to the video, the upgraded GT-R boasts a 690-horsepower engine (810 Nm). This is a pretty big jump in power even compared to the “charged” Nissan GT-R Nismo.
Under the hood of the 911 Turbo S generation 991.2 is the inline six, which develops 572 hp. (700 Nm). It is noteworthy that this value can be short-term increased to 750 Nm.
Believe it or not, but after the Porsche driver chose the sportiest driving mode of the Porsche Sport Response Button (PSRB), the 911 seemed to get a second wind. Watch the video above to see the results of the races, and be sure to wait for the second and third races.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote about the race between the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Corvette C8 2020. The creator of the Speed Phenom channel on Youtube decided to arrange a competition between the Mustang Shelby GT500 and the Corvette C8 Z51. Both cars have almost the same price.
