Will BMW work with Elon Musk?January 16, 2019
The Bavarian BMW brand needs batteries for its hybrid or all-electric models. The official representative of the brand puts Elon Musk and his company Tesla as an example.
In a recent interview, Manfred Schoch, head of the production council of BMW, said that he believes the brand must make its own batteries in order to be successful in building its electrified models. This makes sense, since, one of the most successful manufacturer of electric vehicles – the American company Tesla thrives thanks to its gig factory (plant for the production of lithium-ion batteries) and partnership with Panasonic.
Mr. Schoch gave a high assessment to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He says his decision to focus on the production of EV batteries is commendable.
In addition, the decision of the automaker to provide a reliable partnership with a major player in the battery segment – Panasonic deserves praise.
Here is what he said: “Tesla far surpassed all other automakers in the field of electric vehicles. It is truly the only truly thriving electric vehicle manufacturer at the moment, although the company is struggling to keep afloat. His investment in the future was enormous, and Tesla is finally starting to cover his huge expenses. ”
According to Manfred Schoch, the Bavarian BMW brand should follow a similar path if it wants to achieve the same success in the production of all-electric models. He believes that BMW’s partnership with Tesla, and in particular with Elon Musk, is a sensible strategy to ensure a bright future for BMW as a manufacturer of electric models.
