Which car sounds better? Chevy Corvette C8 or Challenger Hellcat?April 1, 2020
Enthusiasts decided to check which sports car sounds better exhaust system. Both the Chevy Corvette C8 and the Challenger Hellcat are fully factory-made.
This is the battle of the sound of V8 engines between the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody. Both cars are as close to each other and are “measured” by the exhaust of their engines.
Both cars are equipped with 6.2-liter V8 engines, but the sounds coming out of their exhaust pipes are very different.
The 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine in the Chevrolet Corvette produces 490 horsepower (631 Nm). At the rear of the machine are twin tailpipes of the exhaust system. In normal mode, the Vette has a rather muffled exhaust sound. At startup, a small “roar” occurs, which turns into a quiet rumble. By opening the flaps, the sound becomes more interesting. As the engine rpm increases, a creaky sound appears with a bass note at the bottom.
The Challenger Hellcat has a supercharger that helps the engine develop 707 hp. power and 881 Nm of torque. There is a trapezoidal exhaust pipe on each side of the rear bumper. Admittedly, Hellcat has a lot more exhaust bass. Even at idle, a low rumble is heard, and the noise becomes more roaring when you press the gas.
Which car sounds better depends on personal preference. The “noise” from the Corvette is a bit more exotic, while the Challenger tone is more like a classic muscle car.
