When will the new generation Skoda Octavia RS and Scout appear?October 29, 2019
According to the official plans of the Czech brand management, in 2020 a new generation Skoda Octavia in high-performance RS will be presented, as well as the Octavia Scout off-road station wagon.
Officials from the Czech automaker, Skoda, announced that the “charged” Octavia RS will debut next year.
In a long press release published today on the regular version of the long-awaited new product, we drew attention to one sentence: “Later in 2020, we will show the Octavia station wagon in the off-road version of Scout, as well as the high-performance Octavia RS.”
It seems that we will see not only the usual Octavia station wagon, but also its off-road Scout performance with increased ground clearance and additional plastic bodywork. An off-road-oriented version of the Octavia is likely to be offered already in the “base” with all-wheel drive and an automatic dual-clutch gearbox.
In terms of technical “stuffing”, the new Skoda Octavia RS should be very similar to the eighth generation Golf GTI hatchback. Skoda so far does not want to disclose details about the characteristics of its new products, but it is known that a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine will be installed under the hood. It is expected that the “charged” VW hatchback will offer about 250 hp. in the basic version and about 290 hp performed by GTI TCR, which is intended for the racetrack. Cars should be presented in 2020.
There is reason to believe that Skoda is going to offer the Octavia RS TDI (diesel engine). In fact, the press release mentions that “at one point, the model will be offered with 2.0-liter TDI engines with power up to 200 horsepower.” For this powerful diesel engine, an additional four-wheel drive arrangement will be available, so it seems that customers will again be able to get the Octavia RS with a diesel engine and all-wheel drive.
