What’s new in Volkswagen Passat 2020?January 25, 2019
Volkswagen management is not ready to abandon sedans in the United States, and this summer the new Passat of the American model 2020 model year will appear. It is known that the new product will receive the same platform as now, but VW designers will change the appearance of the body with the help of many small updates.
We compare the novelty with the version of the sedan for the USA, the European version of the Passat is essentially a completely different car – it is built on the VQ MQB platform. The updated version can debut immediately after the Geneva Motor Show in March of this year.
Designers of the company will retain the shape of the new Passat 2020 compared to the 2016 update. The new grille has even more chrome and leans further down due to the addition of a third horizontal bar. The larger size also creates a more obvious U-shaped element in the front bumper, which in turn has a grid that covers the entire width of the sedan, which gives it a sporty aesthetic.
The silhouette of the new Passat is identical to the current version, but even here VW designers add more chrome to create a more luxurious look. The rear lights of the new version of the sedan have become more subtle and more elongated.
The Passat 2020 model year will retain the previous generation 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It still gives out 174 horsepower, but torque will increase slightly. At the start of sales will be available only 6-speed automatic transmission.
