The C-Class sedan is not a newcomer to the market, but a full replacement is still a couple of years, so while the Germans offer a restrained and accurate facelift. The changes are purely cosmetic in nature: the sedan received retouched bumpers, a false grille with a different pattern and a new optics – all these changes made the younger model even slightly more similar to the older ones.
So, the headlights of the top versions are now LED, with 84 light elements, an adaptive mechanism and a high-beam switching automaton. In addition, depending on the equipment C-Class trim a different set of external elements from the chrome strips to the air intakes. Finally, new wheel disks appeared.
There are notable changes in the cabin to find, but the modernization touched a bit on it, there were new variants of interior decoration. Instead of analog devices, here is now a completely digital display with a size of 12.3 inches with a resolution of 1920×720 pixels. The steering wheel is new, and the keys for controlling the “music”, cruise control and bortcomputer on it are now sensory. An updated touchpad on the console taught feedback with the help of light vibration. And the model received a different start button, an updated projection screen and wireless charging for the smartphone.
For a surcharge, a larger display of an infotainment system with a diagonal of 10.25 inches is offered. However, now part of the functions that were wired into the bowels of the media system can now be operated using voice control. For example, voice can include heated seats.
The list of electronic assistant systems was also updated, and the machine itself received new cameras and locators. Now the C-Class in some situations is able to ride independently and evaluate the situation at a distance of up to 500 m ahead. The model is equipped with adaptive cruise control, an automatic parking system and the ability to remotely control a car with a smartphone. The list of security systems included a significantly modernized emergency braking system, an alert function for the accident, as well as a system for recognizing pedestrians and cyclists.
Semi-autonomous C-Class can be in traffic on the road, where the machine is able not only to maintain the desired speed and distance, but also tax, focusing on the line of road marking. In addition, the electronics uses the data of the navigator to prepare in advance for bends of the road, the passage of intersections or points of payment for travel. In addition, the C-Class can change the lane to avoid an accident, as well as increase the performance of the power steering – this helps the driver in an emergency situation. New to the sedan is the system for monitoring the “dead” areas on the side with the braking function
As before, the C-Class is equipped with a number of turbo-motors, and there will be no noticeable changes in the scale. The only novelty is an upgraded 2.0-liter diesel engine, whose power was increased to 255 horsepower.
In Europe, sales of the renewed car will begin in the summer of 2018.
