What will the brand new version of Fiat Punto look like?

Despite the fact that last year, sales of the Italian urban “kid” Fiat Punto fell very much, the model can still return to the market. In the meantime, independent artists have presented their vision of new items.

The CEO of the Italian-American concern FCA Mike Manley recently said that Fiat is likely to no longer produce subcompact cars and instead will offer its customers larger models of the B-segment. In fact, this would mean a complete rejection of such iconic models as the 500 and Panda, despite the fact that the latter was the best-selling car in its segment during the first half of this year. Although the same 500 hatchback will become fully electric – the car will receive the 500e designation and will appear on the market in 2020.

The decision to re-qualify Fiat as a manufacturer of B-segment cars was made after it was recorded last year that the Italian car Punto had a serious sales dips.

According to foreign publications, the situation with the model can radically change, given that the FCA decided to merge with the French concern PSA. So one of the most likely scenarios is the return of the Punto model, which will be built on the CMP platform (the new Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208 and DS3 Crossback are based on it).

Independent artists presented their version of the fourth generation of the Italian subcompact city kid, which has become quite similar to the current compact hatchback Fiat Argo. Insiders report that the new Punto can create a good competition for the next-generation Romanian Dacia Sandero, which will appear next year.

It is too early to say that the small Punto hatchback is sure to return to the market, given the fact that the merger of the FCA-PSA concerns is not yet complete, as the two automobile conglomerates have only recently announced plans to merge into a 50:50 ownership right.
