What will a fully autonomous Range Rover be like?November 8, 2020
The 1970 Range Rover was the first European luxury SUV to be confident on the road as well as off-road. Now it is a whole family: Range Rover Sport, Evoque and Velar. An autonomous SUV could supplement it in the future.
A fully autonomous Range Rover SUV could well be available by 2027. This opinion is shared by Thomas Zumalacarregi, who created the renders of the future car news.
The SUV in these images looks not just modern, but futuristic: strict geometry of lines, streamlined shapes, a lot of glass, etc. A spectacular luminous strip flaunts in the front of the car, and various sensors are built into the closed grille. The stylish look of an SUV is complemented by doors called “gull wing” and original 26-inch wheels. The roof is glass, and the charging port was made as invisible as possible.
The same design concept can be seen in the design of the stern. At the same time, the author of the renders did not forget about the elements of the automaker’s corporate identity. In length, this concept reaches 4,948 mm with a wheelbase of 3,536 mm. Width and height – 2,021 and 1,635 mm, respectively. It is a little shorter, narrower and lower than the current SUV, but its wheelbase is larger.
The car has four separate seats with stylish 2-color upholstery. The center console between the seats stretches along its entire length here. It houses a pair of multimedia touchscreens built into the armrests. The interior of Range Rover has a place for pull-out tables, cup holders and secret compartments for storing various small items. There’s also a 32-inch OLED entertainment system.
The author of the project “equipped” the SUV with a pair of batteries, the capacity of each of them is 75 kWh. The total output of the motors reaches 322 hp.
The rendered car is an independent project and has nothing to do with Land Rover. However, this did not make him less interesting.
In the meantime, renders of the new generation KIA Sportage crossover have hit the Web. The front end of the Korean car has changed the most. So, the novelty got a spectacular radiator grille in the style of the K5 business sedan.
