What is the 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 capable of?January 8, 2020
According to the results of tests conducted on a dyno-stand, the supercharged V8 engine produces 550 hp. power and 691 Nm of torque. The car was released in 2012 and traveled only 293 km.
About a month ago, we saw a video with the new version of the high-performance sports coupe Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which shows impressive dynamic performance. Based on the results of those measurements, the 2020 model year novelty actually has more power than originally announced by the automaker.
Now we came across a video on which the power of the same model is checked, but the version of the 2012 model year, on the odometer of which there were 293,336 kilometers, to be exact. It is safe to say that the previous owners of this road “monster” did not know how to use such cars correctly – well, it’s not a matter of a sports car to stand idle in the garage.
At the beginning of the year, the car passed to another owner, who was curious to know how much power his 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500 can show.
At one time, a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine could easily produce 550 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 691 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm.
The results of this test show the amount of power transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual gearbox. The eight-cylinder engine was eventually able to show a respectable 486 hp. at 4,900 rpm and as much as 660 Nm at 4,200 rpm on these 20-inch wheels, which is not so bad considering the typical transmission loss of about 10-15 percent. As for the fuel used, the car had a gas mixture of the 91st and 93rd.
