What happens if the Ford Focus ST equips with a NOS balloon?January 8, 2019
NOS is a nitrous oxide system that is used to significantly increase engine power. That it decided to equip high-performance hatchback Ford Focus ST. After all modifications, the 2.5-liter turbo engine can develop power up to 640 hp.
Updated Ford Focus ST should appear at the European dealers of the American brand already this year. Unfortunately, so far there is no exact data on what will be under the hood of this “charged” hatchback. There are rumors that Ford engineers can choose a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine or even a significantly larger 2.3-liter turbo engine, which is equipped with a “hot” Focus RS.
It is reported that the selected engine will have 3 or 4 cylinders, in contrast to the second-generation Focus ST, which had a 2.5-liter Volvo 5-cylinder turbocharged engine. The latter could produce 225 horsepower, which were sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Exactly this motor is under the hood of that model instance, which enthusiasts decided to significantly upgrade.
Somehow, they managed to boost maximum power to an impressive 640 horsepower.
I will not even list all the changes that this engine has received, I will only say that this monster is still working with the standard gearbox. It turns out that she, too, has a substantial resource reserve, otherwise how could she be able to withstand such a torque. It is transmitted only to the front wheels. I also note that enthusiasts have been installed and the NOS nitrous oxide system.
