What does Jeremy Clarkson think about Lotus Evija with 2000 hp?July 19, 2019
The host of The Grand Tour is well known for its love for cars with high performance and disdain for electric cars. Therefore, he does not like Evija.
In this video from the Drive Tribe, Clarkson says that, although Evija looks very nice, and those who are interested in high-performance electric vehicles will inevitably like, this is not the same Lotus that he would have bought. In fact, he says he would prefer Lotus Esprit V8.
Listening to Clarkson’s opinion, there is no real need to violently confront cars with electric motors, because they will still appear, whether we like them or not.
The British company hopes that with Lotus Evija, it will establish itself as a leader in the automotive industry due to its high performance. And it will only benefit the company, which has recently struggled with a number of management and financial problems.
Lotus says that Evija production will begin next year, and its number will be limited to 130 copies worldwide. Each car will be equipped with four electric motors, generating a total of 1973 hp and 1700 N*m of torque. They promise to accelerate the car to 100 km/h in less than three seconds (probably less than two seconds in reality).
