What cars were bought in Germany in JanuaryFebruary 16, 2020
Last month, the German car market became the largest in Europe.
Experts from the analytics and statistics agency shared data on sales of new cars in the German car market in January 2020. The market capacity was 246,300 new cars. This result was 7.3% lower than last year for the same period. However, over the past 20 years, January 2020 entered the TOP-3 in sales. If we talk about the most popular brands, then the Germans continue to give preference to the local auto industry. Four German automakers were immediately in the TOP-5. Volkswagen became the most popular – on cars of this brand 48 744 residents of Germany (-4.1%) chose their choice. Recall that it was Volkswagen that led the world sales in 2019.
The second most popular was the premium Mercedes-Benz, whose cars sold 26,034 copies (+ 2.9%). Audi closes TOP-3 – official dealers of the brand in Germany managed to sell 22,066 such cars (+ 1.2%).
Fourth place goes to another premium brand – BMW. Last month, the German fleet replenished with 20,454 such vehicles. BMW also showed the best dynamics among the leaders – plus 6.5%. But the American Ford lost its position and now closes the TOP-5 with the result of 17,355 cars sold. Ford sales in Germany dipped 17.7%.
