A video appeared on the Web showing how the powerful Japanese Mazda3 Turbo hatchback accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

Earlier this month, Mazda largely ended the high-performance Mazdaspeed sub-brand by announcing that there will be no next-generation Mazdaspeed3. Instead, as the company plans to move into the premium segment of the market, the powerful Mazda3 Turbo will suffice.

The automaker announced a new powertrain last summer and two new videos showcase the performance it offers, showcasing the car accelerating from zero to 100 km / h.

The videos show the characteristics of the vehicle with different drive configurations.

In the first video, the hatchback takes 6.46 seconds to accelerate to the first “hundred”. This was with the car in Sport mode with traction control on. The 2.5-liter turbocharged engine develops 227 horsepower (420 Nm) when using 87 octane fuel. When using the E93, power is increased to 250 hp and the torque value is up to 434 Nm.

The second race is faster – the hatchback accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.75 seconds. Sport driving mode was enabled, although traction control was disabled, which may have contributed to a faster result. Every Mazda3 Turbo comes with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters; however, the driver did not use them in any of the runs, leaving the transmission in automatic mode.

The 2021 Mazda3 Turbo will be the sportiest car of the Japanese brand. The Mazda3 Turbo comes standard with 18-inch black alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose audio system and an 8.8-inch infotainment system. Other positives include head-up display, LED headlights and DRLs, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, radar cruise control, and more. The sedan starts at $ 30,845 and the hatchback is slightly more expensive at $ 31,845.

Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Mazda has announced three new engines. The Japanese automaker has announced an all-new in-line six-cylinder engine. There are photos of the new engine that the next Mazda6 may receive, but the engine’s debut should only be expected in a few years.
