Watch Ford Bronco jump through McLaren driftingSeptember 9, 2019
The Ford Bronco involved in the stunt is not just an off-road veteran. It was built by the Hoonigan team almost from scratch using a powerful frame, long-stroke suspension and an alternative eight-cylinder LS V8 engine from Cadillac Escalade. The engine output is not called, but the SUV itself is capable of “cutting dimes” no worse than another rear-wheel drive coupe.
But the power of the McLaren 720S, which was also shot in the video, is known almost reliably – it is about 1,000 hp, while the standard four-liter V8 supercar develops “only” 720 hp. According to one hypothesis, the efficiency of the motor was increased specifically in order to facilitate the supercar’s process of sliding on asphalt between the ramps.
It is alleged that in order to get the desired result, the team, led by Michael Cox, had to do about a dozen takes, and during the preparation of the Ford Bronco under the control of Cox, he came into sensitive contact with the fence of the site a couple of times. However, given the experience of Hoonigan in organizing such entertainments, one should not be surprised that everything went well, and no McLaren was injured during the jumps.
