Series production of the five-door VW Arteon station wagon in the station wagon (this version will be designated the Shooting Brake) will be launched in Germany at the Emden plant.
Rumors about the appearance of the Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake station wagon have been on the Internet since the end of 2016, and now, perhaps, the German automaker has finally confirmed its plans to create such a model. An unannounced press release talks about the company’s future plant in the German city of Emden. VW talks about its plans for the conversion of production facilities and their preparation for the production of electric vehicles, which will be built on the basis of a special platform MEB. The start of production is scheduled for the end of 2021. Meanwhile, the assembly of Passat sedans and station wagons, as well as the flagship Arteon liftback will continue.
Some of the buildings in the factory west of Bremen will be expanded, while others will be rebuilt. It is reported that the Passat, as well as the sleeker Arteon and the mysterious station wagon, will be built in older buildings for several years.
According to current rumors, a mid-size station wagon may receive a newly developed six-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which will have more power than an analogue – 276 hp (350 Nm).
