VW will give customers unfinished electric carsJune 12, 2020
Volkswagen does not have time to begin the planned deliveries of the ID.3 electric car this summer. Due to technical problems, refinement of the model is delayed, but buyers will still receive unprepared cars.
The closest start date for deliveries of VW ID.3 customers is September. The appearance of a promising model on the roads was constantly delayed due to the complex software of the car’s electronic systems, which require a long setup. But in the fall, buyers will receive their Volkswagen ID.3 with incomplete multimedia complex functionality.
The main features that will be deprived of Volkswagen electric cars are integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, a large projection display will not work, which displays a lot of useful information directly on the glass in front of the driver.
These features will work when owners receive a software update in early 2021. At the same time, cars that go on sale by the end of autumn 2020 will immediately have full functionality.
In September, those who pre-ordered and made a deposit of 1,000 euros will receive their cars first of all. These will be the cars of the opening First Edition series in three versions with prices up to 40, 46 and 50 thousand euros. All of them will receive an electric motor for 204 hp. and a 58-kilowatt battery, which will provide a range of 440 km.
