VW Touareg and Tayron hybrids: the first cross got the installation from Audi, the second from TiguanDecember 12, 2018
A presentation of rechargeable hybrid versions of three Volkswagen models took place in China. In the sale of new items will come next year.
China is one of the main markets for the Touareg crossover – it was there that the world premiere of the new generation model took place. So it is not surprising that the rechargeable hybrid version was first shown in China. Externally, the hybrid differs from the standard off-road vehicle only by nameplates, and the power plant for such a car went from the Audi Q7 e-tron, designed for Asia.
The new Volkswagen Touareg PHEV is equipped with a 2.0 TSI gasoline “turbo four”, a 136-horsepower electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and an eight-speed automatic. Already in the “base” model has four-wheel drive. Cumulative return – 367 hp and 700 Nm. As reported in VW, the battery capacity is 18 kWh (for Audi Q7 e-tron – 17.3 kWh). The announced mileage of the Touareg PHEV with a full tank and a charged battery is 1000 km versus 1020 km for the Audi hybrid. Only on electric VW crossover can drive about 60 km (Q7 e-tron – about 56 km). For the time being, the company kept silent about the fuel consumption of the Tuareg, the Q7 e-tron consumes 2.4 l / 100 km in the combined cycle.
Recall the hybrid version was the previous Tuareg, the installation of such a cross-section included a V6 3.0 TSI compressor engine (333 hp) and a 47-horsepower electric motor.
The new VW Touareg PHEV will enter the Chinese market next year. A hybrid may appear in Europe, but the dates have not yet been determined. In China, in 2019, the company’s flagship SUV will consist of two more hybrid models – the Tayron PHEV and the Magotan PHEV sedan, these cars are still presented as concepts.
The hybrid version of the Tayron from the usual cross can be distinguished by other bumpers and daytime running lights. The technical component of such a SUV got from the Tiguan L PHEV front wheel drive available in the China: a 1.4 TSI gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor integrated into the DSG robotic gearbox. Total power – 218 hp and 400 Nm. The passport fuel consumption of the sister Tiguan is 1.9 l / km, according to preliminary data, this indicator for Tayron will be 1.4 l / 100 km. In electric mode, the Tiguan L PHEV crossover can travel about 52 km, and probably the same “range” for the Tayron. The Volkswagen Magotan GTE sedan – a copy of the European Passat – has the same setup as the Tiguan and Tayron.
Outside of China, the Tayron crossover is not yet planned to sell. But Volkswagen is preparing another new global SUV – Tharu.
