VW published a teaser for the charged T-Roc R crossoverFebruary 5, 2019
A more powerful version of the compact crossover VW T-Roc R can be called the same Golf R, with only a little more ground clearance. Display of new items can be held at the Geneva Motor Show.
Fans of the hot hatchback Golf R dream of the Polo R, and although the German brand Volkswagen is going to expand the number of its models with the “R” label, the new model will be a completely different car. We have already seen the novelty many times, though only on numerous “spy” shots, but now the guys from VW finally confirm that the “charged” T-Roc R will appear very soon.
On the teaser published by the automaker’s press service, a high-performance compact crossover is shown driving the Nürburgring. VW can present the T-Roc R at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019.
We expect that the novelty will receive the same 2.0-liter gasoline engine with turbocharging, as the “charged” hatchback Golf R, with a capacity of about 300 horsepower. Like the all-wheel drive hatchback, the baby VW T-Roc R will get the 4Motion all-wheel drive system, along with a more sporty suspension setting and more effective brakes.
Given that the crossover will be a bit heavier than the Golf R, it will certainly not be able to compare with its performance indicators. There is no evidence of whether VW will sell a T-Roc R with a manual transmission or whether only an automatic DSG will be offered.
VW T-Roc R will get a more aggressive body kit. Large air intakes in the front bumper are expected to provide optimal cooling for the 2.0 TSI engine, as well as larger alloy wheels and adaptive dampers.
