According to the current development strategy of the German automaker, by 2025 there will be about 20 electric vehicles in the VW model range. Now, from the price lists of the company may disappear several models.

Let us remind our readers that earlier Volkswagen officials announced that in 2026 the latest generations of gasoline and diesel engines will be produced. Then the automobile concern Volkswagen Group and its member companies will deal exclusively with the production of electrical power plants.

Now there is information that the leadership of the German automaker decided to speed up this process.

How? It is planned to sharply reduce the number of petrol / diesel power units for the European automotive market. As a result, some models are likely to completely disappear from sale.

Unfortunately, at the moment there are no details of this decision. In a recent press release, it was said that engine and transmission combinations, the demand for which is very low, will be removed from sale in the upcoming model year. In addition, the release states that this should have “an appropriate positive impact on production complexity and the supply chain.” This document ends with the message that the current model range of the German automaker will be optimized.

“We must accelerate the pace of our transformation in order to remain one of the most advanced automotive brands,” – said Ralph Brandstätter, VW Chief Operating Officer in a recent interview.

Not so long ago, our automobile edition wrote that the Czech brand presented a competitor Volkswagen Golf – Skoda Scala hatchback.
