Volvo XC40 gets a new hybrid powertrainAugust 21, 2020
However, it did not replace the already sold version – the motor range of the compact cross-country has become wider.
Volvo spoke about the expansion of the hybrid line of motors for the XC40 crossover. Recall that previously there was a version with a rechargeable hybrid Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T5, which debuted in Europe last year. Now Volvo XC40 can also be bought with a T4 engine. At the same time, there are no differences in technology between the two engines – they differ only in the total output. In the new version, the power of the gasoline turbo engine was reduced – now, with a 1.5-liter volume, it is capable of delivering 129 hp. with the same figure of 180 hp
All other parameters of the chassis remained the same – the electric motor has a power of 82 hp, and a 7-band robotic gearbox with two clutches is used as a transmission. Thus, the total power decreased from 262 to 211 hp, and the torque was reduced from 425 Nm to 205 Nm. This also affected the dynamics of the car – now it takes 8.5 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h, which is 1.2 seconds more than the previous result. The power reserve on one electricity remained at 51 km.
It is difficult to talk about the prospects for the Volvo XC40 with the new T4 hybrid engine.
The problem may lie in the cost of such a version – for it you will have to pay 47,670 euros, which is only 1,070 euros cheaper than a car with a T5 engine. For comparison, a Volvo XC40 with a 1.5-liter petrol engine can be purchased for 34 600 euros
Previously, Volvo reported on its sales in various regions of the world for July. In Russia, dealers of the brand were able to increase sales by 54%, while global sales of Volvo grew by 14%. The brand’s bestseller in Russia is the mid-size crossover XC60.
