New Volvo XC40 – exterior

Volvo has already received about 80,000 orders for its small crossover, presented in the fall of 2017, which means that the company has to think about expanding its production facilities at the current assembly sites – in Europe at the plant in Belgium’s Ghent and China at the factory in Liuqiao – from the first half of 2019 of the year. The cross is equipped with gasoline and diesel three- and four-cylinder turbo-motors, and hybrid power units.

Perhaps the company will free up some of the production capacity at the Ghent factory, as the outgoing S60 and V60 leave the conveyor. Sedan Volvo S60 new generation will be presented this summer and will be the first model of the brand without a diesel engine. Its assembly will be arranged at the new Volvo plant in the USA. As for the new V60 station wagon, it will be produced at the Torsland factory in Sweden, although the Belgian plant will also be involved in the process.

The Volvo XC40, which became the European car of the year, is the only model built on the CMA platform for compact cars, but Volvo is planning a number of new products on this platform. In addition, this model will be based models of the brand Lynk & Co, owned by the Chinese owner Volvo – the company Geely. By the way, the crossover 01 is still sold only in China, but next year its release will be adjusted in Ghent at the Volvo plant.
