JCOTY contest organizers selected the best car out of 10 finalists
The organizers of the annual competition for the title of the best car in Japan have chosen a winner. For the second year in a row, it was a Volvo car. At this time, won the XC40 crossover, while in 2017 – XC60. A jury of 60 local journalists rated the car for its design, interior quality, compact size and safety level.
This year, out of 27 nominees for the award, there were only 10 Japanese models. The land of the rising sun was represented by Subaru Forester, Daihatsu Mira Tocot, Toyota Corolla Sport, Toyota Crown, Lexus LS, Nissan Serena e-Power, Honda Clarity PHEV, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-8 and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Six Japanese and four European cars reached the final. Each member of the jury had to distribute 25 points between them, the sum of which determined the winner.
