Volvo Updates On Call App For Hybrid OwnersJuly 10, 2020
The Volvo On Call app update adds energy usage data for owners of Volvo plug-in hybrids.
Volvo is expanding its On Call smartphone application service to provide plug-in hybrid car owners with more information about their driving patterns and energy consumption. The application now allows drivers to see how much of the trip is done exclusively on electricity, since this moment is a key factor in using a plug-in hybrid module, which reduces fuel costs. In addition, the amount of CO2 saved, as well as the projected savings on kilometers traveled with the internal combustion engine, will be shown.
The Swedish company claims that these features were added at the request of the owners of an expanding assortment of plug-in hybrids; Each model in the company’s assortment is now available as a PHEV version. The manufacturer hopes that additional information will help owners enjoy the increased efficiency of their cars.
“Just like a step counter helps people exercise more, I believe that giving people a better understanding of their driving patterns will help them move more steadily. We see plug-in hybrids as “part-time electric cars” that encourage changes in people’s behavior and help pave the way for switching to fully electric cars, ”said Bjorn Annwall, Head of Volvo Europe.
Updates are available in 47 countries and will be distributed through regular Google and Apple app stores.
