Volvo Trucks launched commercial deliveries of the first electric trucks Volvo FL Electric and Volvo FE ElectricFebruary 22, 2019
This week, Volvo Trucks delivered its first all-electric trucks: a garbage truck for Renova’s garbage collection and recycling company and a truck for logistics company DB Schenker and its partner carrier TGM operating in Sweden.
The delivery of the trucks was preceded by a test program in which the drivers, who will work on electric trucks, had the opportunity to pass a test drive. Judging by the reviews, the electric transmission was especially surprised drivers, providing fast and smooth acceleration and low noise.
Small-scale production of Volvo FL Electric and Volvo FE Electric trucks for the European market will be launched in the second half of 2019.
Recall that Volvo FL Electric electric trucks (total weight 16 tons) and Volvo FE Electric (total weight 27 tons) are intended for the carriage of goods, garbage collection and other activities in urban environments.
The first model (FL) is equipped with a 130 kW electric motor (peak – 185 kW) with a torque of up to 425 Nm and a battery pack from 100 to 300 kWh with a maximum power reserve of 300 km. The second model (FE) received two electric motors with a total power of 260 kW (peak – 370 kW) and a torque of 850 Nm, while the battery pack of 200-300 kWh (depending on customer needs) provides a range of up to 200 km.
