Apparently the American, all-electric Tesla Semi truck may soon face fierce competition, in the face of the Swedish electric car from Volvo Trucks. The new VNR Electric will be introduced in North America in 2020.

It is reported that Volvo VNR Electric will be an electric truck, which will serve as a regional carrier. As the main advantages of their new products, the guys from the Swedish company emit zero emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and almost silent operation of an electric motor.

Compared to conventional Volvo VNR semi-automatic diesel engines, these are distinct advantages.

Unfortunately, at the moment, Volvo representatives say little about their promising new product. Nevertheless, several unique features are known, including a lighted grille and improved body aerodynamics. Speaking of the latest improvement, it is known that the truck will not receive side fuel tanks.

Although the sales of eco-friendly products will begin no earlier than 2020, Volvo Trucks will present several demonstration prototypes of Volvo VNR Electric as early as next year. Demonstration specimens will use an electric motor based on “proven technology of movement and energy storage that is currently used in the Volvo FE Electric truck”.

By the way, the FE Electric electric truck will go on sale in Europe in 2019. This car was designed for use in the city. FE Electric has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 200–300 kWh, which feeds two electric motors – the total power is 496 hp (The max of the torque is 850 Nm). FE Electric can travel on a single charge up to 200 km.
