Volvo recalls half a million cars worldwideJuly 21, 2019
The reason for which several models of the Swedish brand needed repair at once is a breakdown fraught with a fire in the engine.
Volvo Cars has announced a massive recall of its cars around the world, affecting about 500,000 cars. 86 of the “problem” cars from this number were sold in Sweden itself. This was reported on the eve of Tass, with reference to the agency TT. It is known that the entire “problem” transport will fall into the hands of the masters due to the threat of ignition in the engine compartment. According to media reports, an intake manifold made of plastic may melt due to the high temperature of the engine.
Already there were several similar incidents that ended in fire. At the same time, as noted in the company, no one was hurt.
Repairs required models 2014-2019 years of release with a 4-cylinder diesel engine under the hood, which were equipped with V40, V60, V70, S80, XC60 and XC90. What kind of technical manipulation will be subject to a review of Volvo, is not reported. It is known that the engineers of the brand continue to work on the technical solution of the problem. In the meantime, the manufacturer asks the owners of such machines to closely monitor the messages on-board computer about the engine malfunction.
