Volvo introduced the truck of the futureSeptember 13, 2018
An electric vehicle by Volvo called Vera is compatible with existing infrastructure and cargo platforms
Volvo Trucks introduced a self-powered electric tractor Vera, compatible with the existing infrastructure and cargo platforms. A drone, connected to a cloud service, is able to constantly analyze the traffic situation and determine its location with an accuracy of several centimeters.
Such tractors Volvo offers to use on regular flights between the logistics centers located not far from each other. Advantages of unmanned tractors are called high payload and low noise level, which will allow transportation even at night.
Connected to a single cloud service, Volvo Vera trucks can send information to the transport center about the speed, location, time of delivery and the level of battery charging. On this basis, it is possible to more accurately control the movement of goods and minimize the amount of reserve stocks of goods.
Previously, Volvo Construction Equipment, as well as Volvo Trucks, part of the Volvo Group, launched a pilot project for the use of autonomous dump trucks on the territory of the Vikan-Cross quarry near Gothenburg.
