Volkswagen’s Jetta VS5 is all-wheel drive
July 1, 2019Earlier, Volkswagen and FAW announced the creation of a joint brand Jetta for the release of affordable models in the Chinese market. But declassified SUV does not quite match its segment due to all-wheel drive and multi-link on the rear axle.
FAW-Volkswagen has already fully declassified specifications for its first crossover. The model is based on a modified platform MQB A1. The model called Jetta VS5 is very similar in design to the Seat Ateca with a similar glazing line and overall exterior and interior styling. But the most interesting thing is the four-wheel drive specified in the specification and the multi-link rear suspension, which already goes beyond the standards of the budget segment.
As a power unit will be used budget level engine, represented by a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, working in tandem with a six-speed automatic transmission Aisin. The power of the crossover is 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
In the salon you can note the attempt of designers to combine the classic instrument panel with a display of the multimedia system. By the way, judging by the photos, multimedia will also be budget. Finishing materials – cloth interior and hard plastic. Decorative inserts are made of black plastic.
The start of sales is scheduled for July 12 of this year. Cost is not reported yet.
Meanwhile, the budget brand Jetta from Volkswagen introduced the first models. As planned, the joint venture FAW-Volkswagen will produce cars based on platforms from the German brand, but with its own design.
