Volkswagen will produce 500 thousand electric crossovers a yearSeptember 18, 2020
Volkswagen ID.4 will be presented on September 23
We recently wrote that by 2023 the production capacity of the Volkswagen Group will allow the production of 1.5 million electric vehicles annually. Now the head of the brand, Ralph Brandstätter, has clarified these plans.
“We expect to produce 1.5 million Volkswagen electric vehicles in 2025,” the press service of the auto concern quotes Brandstätter. – And ID.4 will account for about a third of that number. So it will be our main striking force in our reorientation towards electric vehicle production. ”
A member of the Volkswagen Board of Directors Thomas Ulbrich, who is in charge of electrification, spoke about future plans.
“The ID.4 will be the first truly global MEB vehicle designed specifically for electric vehicles,” recalled Ulbrich. – By 2029, the group plans to build about 20 million electric vehicles on the MEB platform alone. This figure includes different brands of cars. The Volkwagen ID.3, Volkswagen ID.4, Skoda Enyaq iV, Audi Q4 e-tron and Cupra el-Born models will be the first to enter the market. “
The company has already announced the date of the production version of the ID.4 crossover. The car will be presented on September 23, and its sales will probably begin next year.
