Volkswagen will have a crossover with two spoilers

Patent images of a serial cross-coupe based on the Volkswagen Tayron model for the Chinese market have been published. The novelty has at least one characteristic feature – these are two spoilers, one of which is installed on the roof, and the second on the trunk door.

The rest of the coupe-shaped crossover is made in a standard style: a sloping roof, massive air intakes and bumpers in the style of the R-Line line, as well as taillights and LED daytime running lights that are different from the standard Tayron. In general, the design follows the concept of the Volkswagen SUV Coupe, introduced in China this spring.

From a document published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry, it follows that the cross-coupe is only slightly smaller than a conventional crossover: it is three millimeters shorter and 25 millimeters lower than the Tayron. The length, height and width of the new items are 4586, 1635 and 1860 millimeters, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2731 millimeters. For comparison, the base of the Tayron coupe is larger than the European Tiguan (2677 millimeters).

According to preliminary data, the Tayron Coupe will appear on the market with a two-liter gasoline engine rated at 220 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The same unit in combination with a seven-speed DSG robotized gearbox with two clutches and an all-wheel drive system is offered as the top one for a standard crossover. Production will be established at the facilities of the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture.

Pricing for the new product has not yet been announced. Most likely, the cross-coupe will be significantly more expensive than the Volkswagen Tayron with a similar engine, which costs from 260,900 yuan.

Earlier it was reported that the line of the German brand will replenish with another global crossover, which will be called Taigun. The Brazilian division of Volkswagen is responsible for the development of the model, and car production is also organized there.
