Volkswagen will change the logo to stop being “too German”April 18, 2018
Volkswagen intends to change the logo and make it “more appropriate to the spirit of the times.” This is due to the preparation for the release of a whole line of electric vehicles and an attempt to restore the image of the brand after the diesel scandal. At the same time, the brand wants to stop looking “too German”. About this, with reference to the head of marketing of producer Johen Zengpil, writes Bloomberg.
The last time Volkswagen changed the logo in 2012. It became more three-dimensional, but in general it did not differ much from those used before. The new emblem will be presented in 2019. According to Zengpil, the logo is adapted in such a way that it looks attractive both on cars and on smartphone screens.
“In recent years, the company is not in the best shape,” Zengpil said. “Mark lost some of her emotional appeal, trying to be” too German. ” And it’s not just a diesel engine. ” The top manager believes that Volkswagen needs to become more “cheerful and bright”, and also to emphasize its innovativeness in order to justify higher prices for brand cars.
Volkswagen’s strategic plan for the development of green transport envisages the creation of 15 serial models of electric cars. The first on the conveyor, and it will happen in 2020, will stand the hatchback I.D. and crossover I.D. Crozz. All machines will be built on a specially developed electrical platform MEB.
