Volkswagen Touareg will be the “last of the Mohicans”March 11, 2019
As the official persons of the German brand say, the Volkswagen Touareg mid-size crossover will be the last in the company’s model range to receive a V8 diesel engine.
Volkswagen and diesel are not the best two words that can be used together. All the fault of the diesel scandal that broke out around the concern in the distant 2015. Recently, many automakers are suffering from tougher environmental regulations, and even here there are traces of “diesel gate”, which is how foreign journalists dubbed this scandal. That is why many well-known brands have decided to completely abandon the use of engines running on diesel fuel.
But this does not apply to Volkswagen – at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the automaker introduced the most powerful version of the mid-size crossover Volkswagen Touareg, which is equipped with a V8 TDI diesel engine.
We are talking about a 4.0-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 416 horsepower (900 Nm of the moment), which accelerates the heavy crossover to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds.
In addition, it became known that the Touareg crossover will probably be the last of the Volkswagen, which will receive a V8 diesel engine. “Most likely, this will be the last V8 diesel car that you will see,” said Mr. Shtakmann.
That is why VW’s head of marketing, Jürgen Stackmann, believes that this huge diesel Volkswagen Touareg is collectible. “We had a lot of controversy, and we believe that the Touareg is the best car for this powerful diesel engine. With him, he will be able to cope with any competitor, ”said Shtakmann in an interview with Top Gear.
