Volkswagen Touareg R prepares for debutFebruary 25, 2020
The novelty will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The highlight will be a powerful hybrid powerplant.
In anticipation of the debut, representatives of the German company told some details about the new product. The car will become one of the links in the implementation of the plan to switch to electric cars, which was recently announced by representatives of the sub-brand R. Touareg R will receive a hybrid power plant with a total output of 456 hp. At the same time, on one electricity, the car will be able to overcome 50 km of track, which is very good, given the size and weight of the crossover.
We also note the excellent dynamics at the start from a standstill – the novelty will be able to dial the first 100 km / h in 5 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 250 km / h. Volkswagen Touareg R is the first sub-brand car, so it is in many ways key to brand development. It’s no secret that by 2025, sales of electric cars in Europe could be higher than with the classic ICE.
The base for the engine was a 326-horsepower gasoline engine, and the return of the electric engine is 130 hp. The power plant works in tandem with an automatic transmission of 8 steps.
The battery capacity is 14.1 kW / h, it is located under the boot floor. In the exterior, we note 21-inch wheels in the basic version, and for an extra charge you can buy wheels with a diameter of 22 inches. From the point of view of electronic filling, Touareg R uses the latest technology – the dashboard is digitally designed, and the infotainment system has a 15-inch touch screen. It is estimated that the cost of the car will be 70 thousand pounds.
