The German automaker will start acquainting Chinese motorists with their electric cars with the ID.4 crossover.

In 3 years, Volkswagen is going to sell eight cars of the electric ID series in China at once. The first to reach the PRC will be the Volkswagen ID.4 electric cross: the other day the Germans presented two versions of the “green” SUV – the standard ID.4 X and the sport version ID.4 Crozz. The first model entered the assembly line of the Volkswagen and SAIC Motor joint venture, but the production of ID.4 Crozz was established at the VW joint venture with the FAW Group.

The ID.4 X electric car is slightly larger in size than the Crozz version: its length is 20 mm longer, and its height is 11 mm. But the wheelbase of the two electric crossovers is the same. In terms of the exterior, the German electric car received new optics, redesigned bumpers and other taillights.
The technical specifications of the two crossovers are kept secret.

But Volkswagen told about the production capacities of their car factories. Both of them can produce 300 thousand electric vehicles annually.

In the future, six more will join the two cars from the VW Group.
Stefan Vollenstein, executive director of the brand in China, announced this to Auto News. He omitted the details. Experts suggest that the Germans will offer their customers in China the compact electric hatch ID.3, as well as the new coupe-like electric crossover ID.5. The latest model was recently spotted by photo spies during tests.

In the meantime, Volkswagen has presented a new version of the electric crossover ID.4 with the X prefix. The car received a significantly updated exterior, but the interior remained practically unchanged. The newest car will be sold exclusively in China.
