The company Volkswagen told about the success of its new bestseller in the China. From January to March, the Volkswagen Tharu budget crossover was sold in the amount of 24,637 units, which guaranteed it a “silver” in the rating of the most popular SUV brands. At the same time, the model bypassed a large number of its competitors. Among them is Hyundai ix25, a mini crossover popular among Russians. The choice in favor of this car made 8,115 Chinese motorists, which is three times less than that of the model VW.
Volkswagen Tharu entered the Chinese market in October 2018. The car, which bears the title of a global brand crossover, is based on the Skoda Karoq platform. From here and similar dimensions of these two crosses.
The Tharu engine range is represented by two turbo engines: the “junior” – a 1.4-liter 150 hp, the “senior” – 186-horsepower with a two-liter working volume. In the near future, the manufacturer will supplement this list with a 116-horsepower 1.2-liter turbo engine. Available power units are paired with a manual transmission on the six-speed or robotized gearbox.
