Volkswagen tests the “charged” Volkswagen Golf R station wagonAugust 19, 2020
We have already written that the legendary VW Golf will have a “hot” version in the “station wagon” body. Now “fresh” spy shots of the future novelty have hit the Internet.
The “charged” Volkswagen Golf R station wagon of the 8th generation was photographed during the next test drive.
The test prototype receives “grown” rims with bright brake calipers – they are painted in a stylish blue tint. Also, the prototype is equipped with four exhaust pipes – an unambiguous allusion to the top engine. On the rear bumper, you can see a silver edging: fans of the German automaker will remember such an element of decor from the all-wheel drive version of the Golf Alltrack.
Recall that such a car differed from the standard station wagon with recycled bumpers, protective linings on the sills and wheel arches, 17-inch wheel rims, silver exterior mirror housings, special nameplates, etc.
Serial Golf R in hatchback and station wagon bodies will get a special aerodynamic body kit, more expressive front bumper, spoiler, door sills, etc. The interior of the “charged” cars will have sports seats, original trim and a new steering wheel. Regardless of the body type, the novelty will receive a 333-horsepower turbo engine of 2 liters, combined with a seven-speed “robot” and all-wheel drive.
The Germans can present a productive hatchback already this year, but the station wagon premieres will have to wait until 2021.
