Volkswagen tests new generation T7 Transporter minivanApril 30, 2020
Some editions published photos of the next generation German minivan Volkswagen Transporter. The next-generation Transporter T7 is expected to debut in 2021.
Volkswagen Transporter is one of the oldest commercial vehicles in the world, and a new generation is coming. This “spy” video shows the tests of the prototype of the German legend T7, which took place in snowy conditions. The car body received a massive disguise, as well as additional lamps on the roof.
The need to create a large cargo space in the cabin means that the back of the news should be exactly square. In turn, the front of the car has a “dull” shape, and the headlights have become rectangular. The A-pillars seem to have slightly steeper tilt angles than the current Transporter, and there is a new quarter-pane front window.
The vehicle in this “spy” video wears a bit more camouflage than the new generation Transporter prototypes in previous photographs.
With camouflage on the side windows, you can get a much better idea of how the new T7 looks in profile. The new front quarter window is the main difference from the aesthetics of the current version of the model.
The new Transporter will be available with a digital dashboard. Although we do not expect this feature to be available as a standard option – most likely, you will have to pay for a virtual dashboard. Driver assistance technologies will also be improved.
It can be expected that a wide variety of engine and transmission combinations will be available for the new product. There may also be different wheelbase lengths so that customers can choose a more suitable vehicle for transporting more payloads.
