Volkswagen spoke about a new pickup that will be cheaper than AmarokAugust 21, 2019
The new pickup is based on the Tarok concept, and the start of its production was announced at the end of 2020. In the prayer line of the German brand, the novelty will take place between Amarok and Saveiro.
A concept from VW called Tarok was presented to the public back in November last year at the São Paulo Motor Show. Then it sounded that the concept car will be released in a series and set off to conquer the Brazilian market. In this country, by the way, they planned to arrange the production of these machines. According to the forecasts of auto experts, the future German pickup would have to get on the conveyor before the end of 2019. However, other information has now appeared. So, the Chinese portal Autohome, reports that the release of new items will begin only at the end of next year and immediately in two regions – South America and China.
It is planned that with the release of the series such a pickup will save the main feature of the concept: the reclining lower part of the rear wall of the cab. With its help, you can significantly increase the area of the cargo compartment. But the appearance of a serial car may differ from the conceptual one.
MQB was chosen as the platform for the new product, whose length will be 4.9 meters, and load capacity – one ton. Recall that in the Tarok concept, the length of the loading platform varied from 1 206 to 2 775 mm. These values are likely to persist for serial cars. The 1.4-liter TSI petrol with a capacity of 150 horsepower, combined in a six-speed “automatic” and four-wheel drive, and a two-liter diesel engine with the same output can enter the motor gamut of the novelty.
