Volkswagen skip the auto show in ParisMay 17, 2018
The company Volkswagen announced that this year will miss the Paris Motor Show. Instead of participating in the exhibition with its own exposition, the German manufacturer intends to organize “various communication activities” in the French capital, Reuters reports.
After the diesel scandal, Volkswagen significantly reduced its presence in traditional automobile exhibitions. First of all, it is connected with minimization of costs. Nevertheless, a decrease in the number of visitors and a decrease in interest in such events are noted by all manufacturers.
One of the reasons is the development of unmanned technologies and connected cars. People are more attracted by such exhibitions as CES in Las Vegas and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where they show new electronics and consumer services.
According to preliminary information, in addition to Volkswagen, the Paris Motor Show will miss Ford, Infiniti, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel and Volvo.
Earlier it became known that Audi decided in 2019 to miss the Detroit Motor Show. The reason is also called competition with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), although the manufacturer claims that it is trying to optimize the timing of presentations of new models.
