Model with concept car status debuts at Sao Paulo Auto Show
At the auto show in Sao Paulo, which opens on November 7, the public debut of the new “extraordinary pickup truck” Volkswagen will take place. The prototype will be the harbinger of a production model that will appear on the Brazilian market in the foreseeable future. The company also does not exclude the possibility of the machine entering the markets of other countries.
In the model range of Volkswagen, the novelty will be located below the Amarok. It will combine the advantages of a networked crossover and a truck designed for urban use. One of the features of the machine will be a multifunctional loading area: its length can be increased due to the folding back of the cab.
The product version of the concept car will be built on the modular platform MQB A0, which is the basis of the Polo and the T-Cross crossover. The gamma of engines will probably consist of TSI petrol turbo engines and 1.6-liter diesel engines in various forcing options.
In March, at the New York Auto Show, Volkswagen demonstrated a prototype of a large Tanoak pickup truck built on an MQB platform from a seven-seat Atlas SUV. Under the hood, the cars installed a 3.6 V6 with a capacity of 280 horsepower and 361 Nm of torque, combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Tanoak received a 254 millimeter ground clearance and four-wheel drive with an active traction control system.
