Volkswagen showed the first image of the new GolfDecember 6, 2018
The eighth generation car will be shown in the middle of next year.
At the Brand Annual Session event, Volkswagen showed a sketch of a new, eighth generation Golf hatchback. According to preliminary information, the model will be presented in the middle of next year, it will receive a hybrid version and optics in the style of the flagship Touareg.
The new Golf will grow in size a little, but it will keep its predecessor platform. Gamma engines will also remain the same, but will expand due to the appearance of a hybrid power plant. The company promises that the Golf will get a revolutionary interior, where “the only analog element will actually be the steering wheel.” The machine will be permanently connected to the Network, and its digital dashboard and complex security systems will become “reference” for the class.
In January, during the summit of suppliers, which was attended by representatives of 120 key brand partners, Volkswagen announced that it would spend 1.8 billion euros to develop a new model. The assembly of the first copies of the Golf of the new generation will start at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg in June 2019. The model will be sold in 108 countries.
