Volkswagen showed a teaser of the new Volkswagen Golf 2020

Seven generations and more than 35 million cars later, the Volkswagen Golf is about to enter a new era: “the era of electrified cars, a digitized and connected inner world, assisted driving and online features and services.”

The German automaker brought to the final tests the eighth generation of its best-selling hatchback and just the legendary model, after which a whole class of cars is named. We are talking about Volkswagen Golf. At the same time, a press release was published in which a teaser picture of the novelty appeared.

We learned that the compact five-door hatchback has entered the final testing phase, and VW is about to complete the development of perhaps the most important car. Although the term “camouflage” is used to describe the exterior of a car, it might be better to use the term “wrap” because the black and white livery with the inscription “Golf” on the doors is rather thin and does not really hide the details.

Over the 45 years of its existence, Golf has always adhered to the evolutionary style of one generation after another, and the eighth iteration of the model will not change the principles. This is quite obvious if you just look at the picture, because the appearance is not too far away from the current generation of the model. Nevertheless, the head of the VW design department, Klaus Bischoff, claims that the new product will become a “real bait” as soon as this disguise is removed this fall.

If you’re wondering why the VW badge is missing, there is a very good reason for this. The updated Golf will be the very first model of the company on which the updated corporate logo will be installed, the second will be the all-electric ID.3 hatchback. Also in front, two white stripes on the headlights do not actually hide the shape and design of the clusters, which seem to be completely LED.

We also have a spy image that previously demonstrates the radical changes taking place inside the cockpit, where many physical controls will be implemented in an infotainment system with a tablet orientation.

As previously announced, the premiere of the new Golf will take place in October, and the model will go on sale in Europe before the end of the year. As for the American Golf, it will probably be offered only in the GTI and R trim levels after. It is too early to talk about Russian sales of the eighth generation VW Golf. Probably, the model will appear in our country no earlier than 2021.
