Volkswagen recalls the newest Atlas from the US marketDecember 14, 2017
Owners of cars will be notified and invited to replace the fuel tanks at the nearest Volkswagen service center.
After the first months of sales, the German automaker Volkswagen recalls a small batch of its largest Atlas crossover on the North American market. The new campaign is related to the problem of the fuel tank.
At the cross Atlas, there are defects in the fuel tank. Its walls on certain specimens may be more delicate than calculated in the design. Such a flaw can potentially lead to fuel leakage. The German concern has already discovered the cause of this problem. It was an uncalibrated extrusion machine at the YAPP Automotive Systems plant in Michigan, which produces fuel tanks for this model.
The company Volkswagen in conjunction with the US regulator NHTSA was forced to announce a review. It concerns only so far 58 copies sold in the US market. They make up almost half of the total crossover Atlas, released from the conveyor belt from May 16 to June 10 this year.
The model of the three-row crossover Volkswagen Atlas was presented earlier this year.
