Volkswagen prepares for the release of the Amarok pickup truck on the US marketJanuary 4, 2018
The declassified registration of the Amarok trademark may also mean premature protection of intellectual property in the US market.
In the files of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the trademark Amarok was discovered. German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen registered it on November 22, 2017 under number 87694480. This information was obtained by representatives of the resource Motrolix.
In the US segment of mid-sized pickups represent models such as Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline. According to rumors, soon to be added Ford Ranger. Now in the North American market, the European Volkswagen Amarok pickup can join them. For this purpose the trademark was registered.
By these actions, the German company retains intellectual property. Indeed, earlier in August last year there were rumors that Volkswagen could team up with FCA in developing a new truck and pickup for the US market. Amarok can be used as a basis for creating new models.
